In October, 2015, Turkish Government has decided to no longer calculate GNI per capita in nominal terms, which floated around $10,000 in recent years, and instead calculate it in PPP terms, which tends to produce higher results in developing countries.

Turkey’s GNI per capita in PPP terms has been a little under $20,000 in recent years; but expected to rise over that threshold in 2015. Meanwhile, curiously, GNI per capita in nomi- nal terms is expected to fall below $10,000 for the first time since 2009.
